Requirements:

The MVS scholarship is available to high school seniors who are United States citizens.  Applicants do not need to be related to a member of the Elks.  Males and females compete separately and are judged on scholarship, leadership and financial need.  The application is completed online and must be submitted by the November 27, 2017, deadline.  

Awards:

The 500 national winners will be announced in late April 2018, after the top 20 finalists participate in the Leadership Weekend in Chicago, April 26-29, 2018.

Land O' Lakes Historical Society Scholarship Local Scholarships 2/1/2018 $2,000
Requirements:

Open to graduating seniors from Northland Pines, Watersmeet, and Phelps High Schools as well as home-schooled students or students currently enrolled in post-secondary institutions whose parents or guardians are residents of the Land O’ Lakes area.

There is no academic requirements.

Applicants must:
1. Show documented community involvement in any local event or institution. Indicate your particular involvement. You or your supervisor may submit documentation in any appropriate form. Your supervisor may be interviewed.

2. Submit a well-written typed essay about your volunteer activity to The Land O’ Lakes Historical Society Scholarship
Committee. The quality of writing will be judged as well as the extent of community involvement. Write about what a
specific volunteer experience meant to you, how it affected your schooling and if it influenced your decision to continue your education.

3. Submit three letters of recommendation, one personal, one from school and one from the organization where you
volunteered.

4. Send three (3) sets of your materials to The Land O’ Lakes Historical Society Scholarship Committee. Be sure your
name is on each sheet submitted.

5. The Scholarship Recipient will need to be available for photos for the press with a Land O' Lakes Historical Society
representative.

 

Awards:

To be presented by a Historical Society Representative.  The award will be paid directly to the students post secondary institution pending the letter of acceptance or confirmation of attendance.

NOTIFICATION Three professionals will judge materials using a written rating system. The successful applicant will
be notified by letter.

*The Land O' Lakes Historical Society is a community organization founded and operated by volunteers as a community service and, as such, wishes to honor students who actively participate in the community as volunteers performing community service.

R & S Winter Family Foundation Vocational/Technical/ Trades Scholarship Local Scholarships 3/23/2018 $5,000
Requirements:

Criteria: 

High school graduate with an overall, minimum 2.0 GPA and will enter vocational training education the following semester. Traditional vocational programs, Associate Degree or Technical Diploma, typically require two years of full time course work with about 60 minimum credits.

Awards:

No more than $5,000 can be awarded to one qualified student.  Multiple students can qualify.
