To be recommended for a high school diploma, a student must fulfill and pass these requirements as prescribed by the Board of Education. A unit of credit is granted for a subject meeting five days each week for two semesters, if a passing grade is earned. (One-half credit each semester.) Credits will be evaluated for transfer students to accommodate the standard for credits of the previous school as well as to meet all State of Wisconsin and Phelps School District policies.
COURSE SELECTION PROCESS
1. A tentative four-year plan will be jointly developed at the end of Grade 8 involving the student, the student’s parents, and the school counselor.
2. Teacher recommendations will be secured to guide the course choices.
3. A final program will be prepared for the student, parents, and counselor or administrator approval to schedule.
4. Changes in course selections will be considered at the end of all high school grading periods.
5. Drop/Add
Students dropping classes at the end of first and third quarter will receive .25 credit for the class. One week will be allowed at the beginning of each semester without penalty. Students must follow guidelines and confer with the guidance office and follow drop/add procedures adopted by the guidance office.
