To support our mission of developing productive citizens, Phelps District encourages all students to engage in meaningful community service experiences. Community service helps students:
- Experience the satisfaction of helping others.
- Apply academic skills to real-world situations.
- Develop strong citizenship and leadership habits.
- Explore potential career interests and gain work experience.
- Build references and employability skills.
- Understand and address community issues and needs.
Requirements:
Total Hours: 50 hours of community service are required for graduation.
Eligible Grades: Hours begin accumulating in 8th grade.
Type of Work: Service must be voluntary and unpaid.
Verification: Each activity must be verified by an adult supervisor who signs and dates a community service verification form.
Forms: Verification slips are available in the school office and must be returned to the guidance office once completed.
