Welcome to the School District of Phelps. We may be a small school district, but we offer tremendous educational opportunities for all our students! Whatever your future dreams and goals entail, we can help make them happen! From the start each student will meet with a counselor to determine their academic path and future goals. Each year they will visit their plan and take the necessary steps to achieve those goals. Personal attention and support are the #1 goals of the Phelps School District!
A variety of opportunities exist for Personal Learning. Students may learn in-person, virtually or a combination. Wisconsin Virtual School (WVS) has 100s of classes available for students looking for additional options. WVS classes are offered at no cost. Also, at the high school level students have access to courses offered at Technical Colleges and 4-year Universities across the country. In fact, we have had several students graduate from high school with enough credits to satisfy 1-2 years of college coursework. Credits earned at no cost to the student or family.
Students’ academic Journey begins with 4K. Elementary students are engrossed in learning to read, write and math among all the disciplines. Phelps elementary targets reading and math to help students to excel in all their classes. Our devoted and caring staff can spend personal time with each student to help them succeed. In addition to our outstanding teachers, we offer an additional layer of support with dedicated teacher aides, who make sure no student falls through the cracks.
Nestled in the National Forest, we combine education opportunities with the great outdoors. Students learn through hands-on activities about their environment. School sponsored events further strengthen their interaction with the world around them. During overnight trips they can investigate the nocturnal environment – something that cannot be done during the school day. The beautiful lakes in Phelps also provide a great investigative learning environment. Students using their science knowledge and apply lifelong activity skills throughout the year.
Phelps School District also has a 5-star rated daycare. Our daycare earned this honor through The Young Star Wisconsin child care quality rating and improvement system. They offer services for children 6 weeks to 3 years old. Along with quality care students are taught by certified teachers using the Frog reading curriculum. For sure this gets are little ones off to a great academic start.
