The Phelps Fitness Center was conceived to meet the health and fitness needs of the Phelps School District students, staff, and residents! The facility is designed to enhance the well-being of all adult residents of the Phelps School District. Safety is the top priority in establishing rules and regulations for the use of the Fitness Center. The facility will be open during the school day for use by District residents. During the school day, students will have priority for the equipment during scheduled classes. Every attempt will be made to provide a calendar of student use in advance so community members may plan accordingly.
Members have key card access to the facility from 4:30 am -10:00 pm.
The fitness center is accessed through a dedicated keyed door near the commons entrance. This entrance keeps fitness center guests separate from the student population.
Fitness Center Rules
- Training on safe use of the equipment is required prior to use. All new members will be required to watch a video training
- Drugs, alcohol, steroids, tobacco products or any other illegal substances are strictly prohibited
- Spotters and safety collars are required in the free weight area
- All weights and equipment will be returned to the appropriate racks for storageFood and drinks are not allowed in the fitness center, with the exception of bottled water
- Proper attire is required
- Tennis shoes for indoor use only
- Shirts that cover the entire torso area
- Shorts must be worn at waist level
- At no time will underwear be visible
- Streetwear clothing should be avoided
- No personal boomboxes are allowed
- Music lyrics and volume should be kept at a reasonable level and school appropriate content
- All equipment must be wiped down with available disinfectant and towels after use
- Athletic bags should be placed in the storage area provided
- Walkways are to be clear of debris
- All rules of common sense and appropriate behavior are expected at all times concerning horseplay, cursing, spitting, etc.
- Proper use of all equipment is mandatory at all times. Dropping or slamming weights or equipment is prohibited.
